Hitler Continues: With plenty of urging from several of his commanders, HITLER, disregarding COMMANDER RAEDER’s warnings, went forth with OPERATION SEA LION. When the Operation started, their chances of winning were slim. The one thing that Hitler needed to have in order to have even the slightest of chance of winning was the air superiority, and the Germans did not have it.
Nazi Commander Alfred Raeder
The troops fought, but because they missed a British radio chain that helped search out incoming planes, their slaughter was absolute. Without the destruction of the chain, it made it difficult for the navy to get close enough for recruitment's, or bring victory over the British navy. There was already a lack of stealth, but this majority overlooked detail crushed any chance of an ambush. Since Britain had air superiority with a fierce air force and a heavy supply of bombs, Germany could not break through defenses effectively. (Cruickshank)
Onward Through WWII: While the Germans were conspiring against Britain, the Japanese were similarly plotting against America. On December 7, 1941 the Japanese bombed PEARL HARBOR. In a matter of a few months the Americans were on their way to the fight in the Pacific, not bothering with the European Front. Slowly the Japanese are moved out of the mainland. The battle of the Philippines was lost and the men left behind were taken for prisoners. They were forced to walk 65 miles with nothing and still cruelly executed. A lot of the army was lost at that one battle.

The turning point of the War in the Pacific was when the Japanese decided to attack Hawaii called the BATTLE OF MIDWAY. The victory went to the Americans and from there the war was in there hands. The Americans started Island Hopping until they got closer and closer to the Japanese homeland. Soon they were close to the homeland. The only thing left for the Americans and their allies was to either wait for the Russians to join or go for a land invasion and hope for the best. There was every possibility that the Americans would be slaughtered. Finally, in 1943, the Russians joined their fight against Japan. Facing two skilled militaries, the Japanese got ready for a fight to remember. The fight went on for several days, and there were many men lying dead on the battlefield. But with luck, the Russians and the Americans finally push the Japanese back, and with massive losses, the Japanese surrendered. On September 2, 1943 known as VJ DAY, the Japanese unconditionally surrendered.
VJ Day Celebration
The second world war was over and, because of Operation Sea Lion, the war was over much quicker than ever thought possible. This much has stayed the same with the Nazi decision, as Japan was seeking a larger empire. Although they wouldn't have an ally to possibly fall back on, they would continue their goals anyway in the fierce, stubborn pride that was present at that time. Aftermath: Significance: The significance of Hitlers choice to continue on with the operation was that the war ended in 1943 and not in 1945. Because the war ended 2 years earlier there was never really a reason to make the Atomic bomb and drop it onto Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It takes 10 years to make the Atomic bomb, them being made in 1955 and therefore the U.S never truly became a world super power and the cold war was never cold because they never experienced the effect of the bombs. This is the alternate history.
